Course of the Week – The Sky as a Cultural Resource

The Eagle Nebula
Ever look up at the sky and just wonder why it’s there? 2009 was the International Year of Astronomy and to celebrate, the University of Glamorgan has created a 20-week short course called The Sky as a Cultural Resource.
In this course you will not only learn about the sky from an astronomer’s point of view, but also its culture, anthropology and natural philosophy. You will cover topics such as naked eye astronomy to modern telescopic observation, from constellations to planets, and from nebulae to galaxies.
Whether you are an amateur astronomist or just going through an existential crisis, this course could be the answer to your questions.
